Twenty-five years of cross-border legal practice, from the City to Monaco
Dual-qualified as barrister and solicitor, with sole responsibility for legal affairs across two single family offices and a career built on complex commercial litigation and private wealth structuring.
Liam is dual-qualified as a barrister (Inner Temple, 1997) and solicitor (2001), with over 25 years of experience spanning commercial litigation, insolvency, and private wealth advisory.
His career began in City banking litigation, before moving into commercial litigation and insolvency work in the Thames Valley — a period defined by sole conduct of Sinclair Investments (UK) Ltd v Versailles Trade Finance Ltd [2011] EWCA Civ 347, a leading Court of Appeal authority on fiduciary duties and proprietary claims. Alongside this litigation practice, Liam began advising family offices in 2006, a relationship that would come to define the next phase of his career.
In 2011, Liam relocated to Monaco, where he spent the following thirteen years as Chief Legal Officer to two single family offices in succession: first to the family office of a hedge fund founder (2011–2023), then to a UHNW Saudi Arabian family (2023–2024). In both roles, he held sole responsibility for legal budgets and the appointment and management of external counsel, overseeing trust and foundation structures holding upwards of US$150 million.
Liam holds the STEP TEP designation (2014), a postgraduate diploma in wealth management (2018), and an MSc in Law and Private Wealth Management (2021, awarded with Commendation) — a combination of litigation pedigree and specialist private wealth qualifications that few practitioners bring to succession and structuring work.
