Family Office Advisory

Drawing on over a decade as principal legal adviser and Chief Legal Officer to single family offices — with sole responsibility for legal budgets and external counsel across jurisdictions — I bring the same general counsel-level judgement, as a solicitor and TEP, to family offices today.

Overview

No two family offices are alike. Some need light-touch support with day-to-day administration; others operate like a company, with investment, accounting, HR, compliance and legal functions of their own. What every family office needs is a legal adviser who understands how it actually runs.

I have advised family offices since 2006, and bring general counsel-level judgement to family offices and their principals — overseeing legal budgets, managing external counsel across jurisdictions, and providing the coordinated, commercially-minded advice usually reserved for in-house legal teams.

My advice is underpinned not only by my experience, but by an MSc in Law and Private Wealth Management, a Postgraduate Diploma in Wealth Management, CLT/STEP International Diplomas in Trust Creation Law and Practice and Trust Administration and Accounts, and an Advanced Certificate in Trust Disputes.

Who do I advise?

  • Families establishing a family office for the first time
  • Existing family offices seeking ad hoc legal advice on particular issues
  • Family offices needing general counsel-level oversight without a full-time hire
  • Principals managing legal matters across multiple jurisdictions
